Welcome!

The Garden Club of Ellijay is a member of The Garden Club of Georgia,Inc. (Laurel District I) and National Garden Clubs, Inc. (The Deep South Region).

In May 2010, the Garden Club of Ellijay was named Garden Club of Georgia’s GARDEN CLUB OF THE YEAR! The Garden Club of Elijay was the Laurel Distric's Club of the year in 2007 & 2008.

For 22 years, The Garden Club of Ellijay has been active in beautifying the community and instilling a love of gardening. We have a diverse membership of all ages and backgrounds, from beginners to quite experienced gardeners. Our mission is the same as that of The Garden Club of Georgia: Beautification, Conservation and Education.

We are a working club that keeps very busy with a plant sale in the spring and a summer flower show. Daytrips are scheduled throughout the year to public and private gardens.

We are very proud to have members who hold positions on The Garden Club of Georgia, Inc. Board and the Laurel District Board. We also have four Flower Show Judges and eleven Georgia Master Gardeners.

Our contribution to the community is extensive, with volunteer assistance at the Gilmer County Food Pantry Garden, donations to the Ellijay Community Food Pantry, Christmas gifts for families in need, landscaping and planting in the community, and scenic wildflowers along the highway. Plans are underway to erect a Blue Star Marker. A Junior Garden Club (Youth Club) was formed in September of 2007 and has won many first place National Garden Club awards for 3 consecutive years. Our major project for 2007 was the Trail of Tears marker erected on Highway 515.
